A Woman’s Worth

She can deal with stress and carry heavy burdens.
She smiles when she feels like screaming, and she sings when she feels like crying.
She cries when she’s happy and laughs when she’s afraid.
Her love is unconditional.
There’s only one thing wrong with her.
She forgets what she’s worth!

Recently with the start of my new business I’ve been offering some of my services for free to ‘likers’ of my Facebook page, and an interesting phenomenon is occurring – I can hardly give them away! My first reaction was surprise – who wouldn’t want a beautiful blessing ceremony??? But I quickly realised that some of this is about our resistance as women (and I’m sure men have some of the same reactions) to being celebrated. Were great with celebrating our friends; at being there for them, making them feel special and loved but we have a real block around giving ourselves the same gift.

I think there are a couple of things going on here in our thinking and they are around how we value our own worth – “it’s wonderful for her but I don’t deserve that”. To be frank with you all, that’s just not true. We ALL deserve to be celebrated, to be loved, to have words of admiration spoken out loud, and to hear those words. There is nothing that makes person ‘A’ more deserving than person ‘B’. There is nothing that makes your friend, sister, mother, daughter or lover more deserving than you.

This brings me to the next internal voice that gets in our way – “but I'm not good at accepting compliments/accolades/nice things being said about me”. We all need to be loved and valued yet we get in our own way. Generally we aren’t used to hearing nice things said about us. It feels new and uncomfortable. Well I
have some difficult news to share – it’s not going to get easier until you just do it. Like facing fears they don’t go away all by themselves. We need to push ourselves into discomfort, that’s where growth happens. Like a child struggling to reach for the toy out of reach, it’s not until they take a chance and make that new developmental leap to crawling that they can succeed and reach the toy. We are no different. We need to challenge ourselves to do something new in order to be able to achieve the next step and experience the world in a new way.

So here is my challenge to you – accept a blessing ceremony*. A gift from me to you because you ARE worth it, and you DO deserve it. The blessing ceremony can be for any reason whatsoever. You may have a baby coming, you may be a mother or carer and want to be celebrated for your role as a nurturer, you may have a birthday coming, you may have a new business or venture you are stepping into, you may have absolutely no event coming up but know that you are worth it and want to be celebrated. If you are up for the challenge to accept positivity then I am up for the challenge to create it for you. Just contact me via FB or on blossom.jo@gmail.com or on 0408 944 096. Remember what you are worth.

If you have been triggered by this blog post in some way please get yourself some support from a friend or family member, or a professional.

*Free blessing ceremony needs to be:
- within the Perth metro area
- within the months of December and January
- able to be arranged at a time that suits both you and me.
